The Financial Times on the Greek Radicals, a comment by Almost Marx

This essay, written by Kerin Hope and Tony Barber, has all the cheap melodrama of a Dragnet episode, circa 1954, starring Jack Webb complete with wanted posters! Is there no end to the mendacity of the Neo-Liberal Apologists whose world collapsed in 2008, because the Free Market experiment envisioned by Hayek,Friedman, von Mises and other Economic Theologians collapsed in an orgy of unalloyed greed and ignominy, not to speak of wholesale lawlessness.
The political desperation of those apologists leads them in this instance to engage in hysteria mongering and demonization, hence these completely comic wanted posters, the expression in America is hokey, with names attached to them: The Hardliner, The ‘Hard Man’, The Professor! These Greeks and their allies who have dared to take their fates and the fate of their people into their own hands.
But the characterizations of the various political actors are priceless Cold War kitsch: ‘ a strident enemy of capitalism.’,’a member of Greece’s Stalinist communist party for 30 years’,’that includes a dozen far-left factions’,’a militant Syriza lawmaker’,’the 63-year old has been an activist since his student days’ etc.
But this troika of ‘Leftists’ is also soft on crime and criminals and not just the enemies but the repealers of enacted ‘Neo-Liberal Reforms’!
But most shocking of all Aristides Baltas i.e. ‘The Professor’ is declared a Socrates!
